Summary
The Doom of the Noldor is a a series of unexpected deaths, vehicle accidents, political assassinations, and other misfortunes experienced by family members of prominent elven politician Finwë Noldoran. The supposed doom is thought to primarily affect Noldoran’s direct descendants, but has also appeared to strike others associated with the family, including friends, business partners, and distant relations. According to some legends, the doom is caused by Noldoran’s controversial choice to remarry after the death of his first wife, Miriel Serindë, in child birth. Others, however, attribute Serindë's death to the doom, and suggest various other causes.
Beleriand Senator Fingolfin Noldoran has flatly denied the doom, quoted: “Do not attribute to ill-fate what is better explained by malice.” Other family members, most notably Orodreth Noldoran, have voiced discomfort and unease surrounding the urban legend.
