Summary
A red-haired mermaid saves a prince from death and sacrifices much to try to win his heart. Inspired by the bittersweet Hans Christian Andersen version of “The Little Mermaid," this is Everlark from the outside, with a good deal of angst and a pleasant surprise of an ending.

Katniss holds Peeta through a critical episode, paralleling Janet in the old Scottish ballad of Tam Lin (often told as a fairy tale in prose form). “Miles Cross” is the crossroads where Janet pulled her lover from his horse and, by holding him through his many frightening transformations, won him from the fairies.

Summary
This is the truest story I've ever told. An Everlark fairy tale, based on Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Nightingale,” with a bit of the character of a “three brothers” tale as well. Also slightly inspired by Ch 9 of my WIP, “When the Moon Fell in Love with the Sun.” If Katniss’s bird dream is a delicate nod to “The Nightingale,” this fic is a love letter of a retelling.

Summary
Much later she would see how like a spell that moment had been: a grief-stricken king and a ripe-breasted baker’s widow, the glory of her bright hair spilling about her bare torso. Later still there would be blame laid, and enchantments identified and condemned. But in that humble kitchen, during the coldest May anyone could remember, the only enchantments present were of the natural sort which spring up, unbidden, in the human mind and heart.
A hungry infant brings together a baker's widow and a grieving king. A prologue of sorts to an Everlark Snow White, following the stepmother's story and her relationship with her stepdaughter; this begins as Jack/Raisa (Mr. Everdeen/Mrs. Mellark) but will eventually end up with Peeta/Katniss.

None came in answer to my knock, and as the rain beat against my back in barbed pellets of ice I forsook propriety and reached hopefully for the latch. To my surprise, it lifted without effort. The door gave at once beneath my touch, almost as though I were expected, and opened inward to reveal a very heaven of domesticity; all broad oak timbers and rounded stone, warm and bright as gold, where the very air tasted of honey and woodsmoke and freshly baked bread.
