Summary
There’s a moment of silence but it’s not awkward or uncomfortable. Harry is oddly reassured just by the fact that Louis is on the other side of the phone. Everything still feels unbearable, but him, being there, it’s enough for now.
Harry’s never really come to terms with what goes on in his house when his mother isn’t home, has never admitted even to himself that this, this thing that’s happening to him, is real. Nearly nine years of sexual and physical abuse and he’s still trying to learn to grunt and bear it. He finds ways of coping, whether it be slicing his wrists or throwing up his dinner just because he needs control of something.
On the outside, he's a smiling, cheeky sixteen-year-old. On the inside though, Harry's broken, damaged goods tittering on the edge of hopelessness.
And then he meets Louis.

Summary
Louis grinds down and Harry's hands tighten on his hips automatically. Louis will probably have bruises tomorrow, but he isn’t complaining. He’s cursing under his breath. “What do you want?” Louis asks. Everything, Harry thinks. He wants everything.
Two years ago Harry was spending most of his time locked in the bathroom, forcing food out of his stomach or cutting lines into his wrist. Now, while still fighting off depression, his life consists of making out with his best friend (not boyfriend despite what Liam and Zayn seem to think); having a love hate relationship with his (second) job; working out a lot (but not too much); living in a state of near-constant sexual frustration; and trying to convince Louis that no, he really doesn’t want to form a band.
