When he lifted his chin to finally look at him, Ilend's blue eyes pinned him in place. Beneath all that discipline, Ilend was this beautiful, breakable thing -- and Lethe burned with desperation to protect him.
"Had you not come through that gate... I'd be dead." Ilend swallowed hard, "You did not even know me. You had no cause to risk your own life for mine."
"Perhaps I'm just naturally reckless." Lethe shrugged, the motion making his ribs ache. "I've been told as much before."

Fighting through the smoke and ash, a quiet pull grows between Ilend and Lethe. Something dangerous that he refuses to name, but knows could undo him just as surely as any Dremora blade.
