Summary
Verso had stopped visiting the Canvas decades ago. Where once he was a child, carefree and full of wonder and whimsy, he had grown up practically in the blink of an eye. Visitations grew few and far between, and they had grown shorter still. There reached a point where visits came decades apart, and Verso would look different each time. Older, almost certainly. Growing from what was once a small, arguably frail little boy to an elegant man in a suit and tie, his frame filling out from lanky teenager to handsome bachelor. No longer did he spend near as much time in the Canvas, always worried about his appearance and always with far more worries in his gaze than he did the last time he visited.
Until he stopped visiting at all, leaving the Canvas to its own devices.

Summary
All Verso could really focus on was the softness of his giant friend’s hands, the way they easily cradled his small human body against his plush body. Keeping him from falling too far into an abyss he most assuredly wouldn't be able to welcome even if he tried — and he has tried so, so many times. Handling him like one of his precious rocks, if he would be so bold to say.

Rage that had already consumed him once.
Rage that he would gladly let consume him again.

Here, there was one and only one expectation that he had foisted upon him, and it was minor in the grand scheme of things.
Here, he was only expected to fight. Or, more specifically, lose while fighting.

Summary
Two grey-blue eyes blown wide, pupils dark and unseeing, staring right back at the pitiful thing he had become in the face of everything. Ebony black hair lay in curls around his face, slightly damp from the bath he’d taken, and a streak of white painted over the right side of his head. With bleeding knuckles still rife with glass, he sank his calloused hands in and tugged for the pain of it.

Summary
A flash of white fur and wooden hands he just barely missed were the last thing he remembered before his body erupted with icy fire, and the sound of the world disappeared with a rumbling rush. Water bubbles shrouded his vision and hid the sun, his hair whipping in front of his eyes as gravity committed to its act.
