Summary
When a note lands at the SBPD threatening Shawn’s favourite detective, the police rush to make sure that Jules is safe. The only issue is, no one knows the secret that Shawn has been keeping until it’s too late.
With Lassie held captive by one of the most notorious serial killers in recent times, the team are forced to throw everything they have into tracking down the elusive criminal and rescuing the Head Detective.
Even if by some miracle everyone survives going up against the killer, Shawn fears that he might just end up dying from embarrassment if his confession is recounted to Lassie.
Whatever fallout might come, it will take the whole team to put the pieces back together. Some of those pieces might just land in an unexpected way.

Summary
It’s been months since Carlton was rescued from that awful place. Even as the physical injuries from his ordeal fade, the mental scars prove decidedly more challenging to put behind him.
All Carlton wants now is focus on this new life that he’s building with Shawn - and hopefully convince his dearly beloved boyfriend to remember to do laundry occasionally.
But there’s more than one outside threat to their newfound domestic bliss. When a familiar face winds up dead in prison, any number of suspects emerge. What’s more, the motive might just lie somewhere completely unexpected, leading the SBPD down a dangerous new path in their attempt to find a killer.
Meanwhile, mysterious disappearances across Santa Barbara have the couple on edge. Is Shawn right that this is connected to what happened to Carlton? And will his insistence on investigating a connection push their relationship to breaking point?
One person knows exactly what’s happening. And she’s only too happy to let the suffering continue.

This should make sense as a standalone story, but I recommend reading Steaming Mad (I'll Bring You Home) first, if only because in my biased opinion, I think it's a good read.
