Summary
"Doctor Whitaker, nice to meet you." Mr. Porter had said, holding his hand out for Dennis to shake. Ew. The mans palm was sweaty. "How are you fitting into the junior attending role?"
Ah. We're really leaning into this huh.

Goes hand in hand with my last fic: Survival (it's the name of the game)
Always read the notes.
Dennis is proud that Trinity is handling her breakup with Garcia well. He's supportive, as a best friend should be, but that was to a fault-
Just kidding. No it wasn't. That's why he's here in a sex and lingerie shop with Trinity who was looking at matching bra and panty sets, careless of Dennis's discomfort.
"Lighten up Huck." Trinity says, blasé dripping from each word. "Oh, this would be cute on you. Blue is your color. Really anything jewle toned is."

Summary
The first call home had been in fifth grade when Bobby Buckley was making fun of Hayden Chapman. Hayden was a meek girl who was outcast enough as it was for her love of anime (Dennis had no idea what that was at the time) and now her parents were getting divorced. (Her mom taught math for 7th grade and she had been caught sleeping with a game warden.) And while yeah, everyone was talking about it, making what happened Hayden's fault made no sense even to 12 year old Dennis.
In other words, the world didn't harden Dennis, but he wasn't as soft as he allowed others to think him to be. The same water that softens the potato hardens the egg.

Summary
"Ma'am you can't just walk in through the ambulance bay!" Langdon scolds, sounding irritated.
"Please!" A woman begs, breaths coming short and ragged as she speaks. "I just left Presby because they said nothing is wrong. But I know I'm having a heart attack!"
Robby pokes his head out and sees Kim helping a short woman with medium brown hair into a wheelchair. Or, try to anyway.
"Let me walk while I still can." She insisted. Langdon takes her hand as they walk past central when she stops so suddenly it nearly makes the much taller man trip.
"Ma'am? Ma'am are you okay?" Langdon asked.
"Dennis?" Huh?
Dennis has been no contact with his entire family for nearly a decade. How will he react to the aunt who helped raise him suddenly showing up in his ER, nearly 500 miles from her own home.

Summary
"Uncle Dennis." Dallas said, coming around the corner from the kitchen. "When you get married does that mean we won't have the same last name anymore?"
Huh. How is he gonna explain to Dallas he plans to keep Whitaker from a professional aspect but everywhere else he plans to be Dennis Robinavitch? That's kinda complicated to explain.
"You'll have my name eventually. You know how we've talked about how your mom and dad have done bad things, and you won't see them anymore after court is done? Well they're gonna live the rest of their lives in jail, and you're gonna stay here, and be our son, because we want you so much. So we're gonna adopt you, and Addy, and Lia."
"Does adopting mean I get your name Uncle Mikey?" Dallas asked, fingers playing with the collar of the worn PTMC shirt.
"It does." Michael says with a smile. "Is that okay?"
"I dunno that I know how to say Robbyinaditch."
Court is coming up for the Robinavitch/Whitaker family, but even with such significant evidence it won't be easy.
This fic contains explicit depictions of rape and sexual assault in a manner that may be triggering to readers.
