Everyone loved the Yondaime. Children waved whenever he walked through the market. Merchants quietly slipped extra produce into his purchases. Shopkeepers offered discounts—most of the time, items were free. Shinobi, genin or not, straightened their backs when he passed, inspired by the effortless confidence and humble nature that radiated from him.
He always smiled. He remembered names. Always stopped to help someone carry groceries. Always apologized if he minutely inconvenienced someone.
