Kim ran a hand through his hair, slicking it away from his face. He had high cheekbones like Kinn and Khun, but Kim had always had a slightly more delicate frame that Tay had always found enticing.
Kim wasn’t inclined to answer, which Tay expected. Shifting the conversation, Tay glanced down at Kim’s scars, barely noticeable under his pectorals.
“Is that why you were gone for months? They did a great job. I wonder if it was the same guy who did my nose.”
“What is it exactly that you want from me, Tay?” Kim asked.

Summary
Kim wondered how the game, which had started off fairly innocently, had gotten so twisted. They used to play with Khun and Kinn, games like any other child. Tag. Red Rover. Hide and Seek. But as they got older, Khun and Kinn got too old, and Macau was still too small. Kim and Vegas, who were roughly the same age, seemed to be the only ones interested in continuing.
As they were more exposed to the family business, and as puberty and hormones started to kick in, the game began to change. It became darker, more violent. They never caused any permanent damage, and they never carried any hard feelings, either. It was just part of the game. The game that Kim clung to, even at the age of eighteen, because it made him feel alive. It was the closest he got to organizing the jumbled and confusing feelings inside his brain that screamed at him that he was different. Other.
At least Vegas seemed to understand him, and what he needed. He had kept the game going, after all.
They called the game ‘Kidnap’.

When Pete came to, he was certain he was having a nightmare. He was chained up, his hands raised over his head, but Pete could tell from the softly colored lights where he was.
He was back at the safehouse.
Jerking against the chains, Pete’s breath caught in his chest.
“Easy,” a familiar voice chastised fondly, and Pete nearly went limp as dread filled him.
Was it a dream? Or had his escape been the dream?
Turning to face his captor, Pete hardened his gaze.
“Are you going to kill me this time?”
Vegas’s brows raised, his eyes soft as he leaned forward and opened his mouth to reply.
Before he could, though, the door opened and Pete knew who it was without looking. As much as instinct told him not to turn his back on Vegas, Pete twisted as he said, “Khun Kim.”
Pete could only look on in horror as Kim gave him a cheeky little wave.

Summary
Climbing into the back of the black SUV, Chay buckled himself as Pete climbed behind the wheel.
Turning around to face him, Pete’s grin darkened as he said, “We’re going to have so much fun.”
Chay caught a flash of movement in the rearview mirror, then everything went black.
When he came to, he was on a bed, his wrists and ankles tied. He flinched, then glanced up to see Pete sitting beside him. Pete just smiled warmly as he continued petting Chay’s head.
“P’Pete?”
Chay heard his voice crack and winced.
“Shh,” Pete soothed. “You’re safe, nong. We’re just going to play a little game, and once the timer goes off, you’re free to go.”
“We aren’t going to hurt you,” Vegas’s voice rang out from across the room. Chay turned to see Vegas sitting in a chair with a glass of red wine, watching Pete intently. “My pet would never let anyone harm a hair on your head.”
“Never,” Pete whispered, still petting him.
Though Chay’s lip trembled, he tried to be brave as he asked, “Why am I tied up?”
“Just part of the game,” Pete explained calmly.

Vegas strolled into the kitchen, his domain, and washed his hands so he could start pulling out ingredients. Vegas felt at ease. Macau was in his room, working on his homework. Pete was within sight, watching television and nice and relaxed. The day was settling as Vegas let himself get lost in the comfort of cooking.
When he reached for a knife from the block, however, Vegas paused.
“Pete?” Vegas called, keeping his voice level.
“Yeah?”
“Did you see Chay earlier? Cau was saying he stopped by today to help him with his homework.”
Pete was quiet for a moment, and Vegas could practically see the cute, confused look on his face while Pete thought.
“Why?”
Vegas smiled, pocketing the rabbit foot keychain.
“No reason.”
