AKA the Jeff Troy/Kent Parson series. Series title is from "Past Lives" by Borns. The parts don't all necessarily have to be read/read in order, but I highly recommend it.
A big inspiration for this series is @littlestpersimmon (tumblr). Go check out their fantastic Kent art (and their art, in general, which is all fantastic).

update oct 2023: marking this complete as i don't think i'll revisit it and things are wrapped up in a way i'm content with. note that the room sharing on away games is not a reflection of real life hockey but established fanfic tropes (for the yearning! i took creative liberties!)
