Summary
The tension released a little from Sam’s body as she recognized there was nothing left to hide, and no point in denying what Kerry already guessed from what she had seen that afternoon. It was actually a relief, in a twisted kind of way, to not have to conceal anything for once, even if the one person who understood it all was, ironically, Jack O’Neill’s current lover.

Summary
Sam Carter was ridiculously proud of herself.
Without intentionally looking, she had just found the pair of salad tongs in Jack O'Neill's kitchen. They were in the drawer below the cabinet where he kept the salad bowls which was obviously adjacent to the side of the refrigerator where salad ingredients were appropriately housed in the crisper bin.

Standing in line at the coffee shop, he couldn't help but read the chalk board on the wall next to him declaring the "Message of the Day." It was ironic that a man who hated cliches was currently realizing how perfectly fitting this one was.

Summary
decoherence: the loss of a quantum state and the return to the classical; an act of interference, however caused, that triggers the transition from the all-possible to a determined end.
He takes a long drink from his beer, draining it, then shakes his head. An unexpected chuckle skips across the pond, the sound of it bouncing then fading quickly into the breeze.
“Sir?" she asks tentatively.
He still doesn’t look at her. His answer is slow, soft. When it comes, his voice is weighted with contrition.
"Should’a known with you from the start.”

Summary
Sam felt herself go red. Jack's gaze was unrelenting, and she found that she couldn’t maintain the eye contact. He’d stared at her before, times that he thought she didn’t realise and times that he definitely knew she knew, and it never failed to unnerve and thrill her.
And this close. Well. It was terrifying. And it was electrifying.
On the day of Jacob Carter's funeral, Sam has more on her mind than just her father.

They’d agreed to try.
A few Interlude segments with the Threads episode.
As if the world needs any more Threads? I'm not sure why I wrote this but it came out when I was trying to write something else. I think I'm permanently stuck in the space behind what we see from season 8 onwards. -

Summary
Sam has time to dwell on her embarrassment after finding Kerri at Jack’s house, but her embarrassment turns introspective as she tries to reconcile her actions and Jack's reactions over the past year. It leads her to the only logical conclusion, but what will Jack say?
I think now that it was just more of the self-sacrificial bullshit that I should have expected. He’s been putting his own ass on the line since day one, but outside of that battlefield context, I didn’t see it for what it was. I didn’t know what it looked like when Jack gave up something he wanted because someone he cared about wanted something else. It looked a lot like rebutting every reason I could think of to give the ring back to Pete. The truth is, I didn’t know what I wanted back then. I didn’t say ‘yes,’ but Jack was right. I didn’t say ‘no’ either. The option was on the table, and I had put it there.

Summary
Errr... possibly the weirdest thing I've ever written, but still posted anyway.
Sam and Jack are finally allowed to be together, but in reality friends to lovers might be a little different than they anticipated. Part of the one where Sam can't pull it together to kiss him. I probably didn't follow the brief exactly, but this is what happened. Enjoy it. Or not. :D
Also mostly inspired by the director's comment for Chimera that pointed out that he sniffs her when she gets on the elevator before that heinously amazing humming scene.

Summary
“Why is this so funny to you?” Jack asked, his voice filled with her infectious laughter.
She reached her free hand up to cup his face, with a slight shake from her laughter, “I have no idea. Just, all this time we haven’t been able to do anything, and now that we finally can it doesn’t seem real.”

Summary
Jack is retired and living in Colorado Springs again where General Carter leads the SGC. All well and good, but is he basic? Or is she? Or are they just basically happy.
October was Jack’s favorite month. The nighttime chill in the mountains bled into the early morning golden hours and creeped through the glass doors of their bedroom. In November, Sam would be cranking up the heat, but the mild, sunny day time hours of October were enough to keep her fingers off the thermostat. In October when the cold settled over them, she just moved in closer under the covers and pulled his arms around her with a grumbled “cold.” It was a noble sacrifice he made for her, but he wrapped her up anyway, twining their limbs and rubbing warmth into her familiar body. October was his favorite month.

Summary
Sam said yes. She was finally going fishing, and Sam Carter did nothing halfway.
“Carter, as unlikely as this seems given our exhaustive discussion on the topic, you may be missing the point,” Jack told her in that hushed tone that he used when he didn’t want to embarrass her in front of others. She wasn’t sure what the point was since everyone on the porch could still hear him, and there was no one else around for miles.
“What? No. We came all this way to go fishing. So, let’s fish.” Her excitement was waning a bit at the less than enthusiastic response from her teammates. She expected that Jack, at least, would be ready to make up for those lost years when she kept putting off his invitations.
“Later,” he promised her. “The fish are still sleeping. You wouldn’t want to disturb their slumber, would you?”
