She cut hard into a narrow passage, shoulder grazing chipped brick, the scrape leaving a chalky smear on her sleeve. The air was stale here, smelling of damp mortar and the sour tang of rain trapped in stone.
A thin blade of streetlight knifed through the end of the lane, pale gold against the black, and she fixed on it. Her pulse drove hard enough to thrum in her teeth, rattling through her skull with each step.

Times read: 1Well. This was not at all what I expected. I think I started it once years ago and quit after a chapter or so and now I'm mad I did because it's so good!! Best RR AU I've read so far, and a fantastic type of time travel (ish, is it really? Who knows, only the gods and maybe the author). Amazing characters, plotlines, writing, etc. Just gotta wait a year or two to read it again so that my breathing calms down first!
