El does not want to be seen as Galadriel, or as a dark goddess of ominous power, or really in charge of anything. Never mind the responsibility, it'd be so embarassing!
But in the desperate efforts to escape the Scholomance, somebody painted her into that position....Told as a story, well after the events of the books.
