Summary
Wouldn’t it be great if you could walk into your favorite fantasy world and completely wreck its economy? Oh yah, that’s what I care about. I don’t care about falling in love with any of the hot elves (though they are rather scrumptious) or altering the course of the story through deus-ex-machina levels of power. No, I want to fucking compete with Varric Tethras. I want to OWN my own city--behind the scenes, of course. I don’t have time for politics.
This is a just-for-fun fic I'm writing for myself to answer the question, "What if a modern character could travel between Kirkwall and the modern world at will through a magic door?" Expect much chaos and probably too much consideration for how the economy and logistics of Thedas work. Expect little to no consideration for power levels. The main character will try to avoid the main story, at least at first.

Infernals fall and the elves survive at great cost. Tanya will not allow negligence to breed complicity a second time. She was born too late to fully avert ruin for her home forest but maybe these other races have better heads on their shoulders.

In another time, in another reality, humanity had been woefully unprepared for the reality of their galaxy. Their leaders had hidden the existence of extraterrestrial life until war broke out. The knowledge of the cycle was buried deep until Commander Shepard ripped it from the cold, soulless jaws of Nazara The Sovereign. Yet this is illogical and impossible. Such a grand conspiracy would take the willing silence of millions and eventually billions. Amateur radio enthusiasts could stumble across the evidence of the great cycle raging across the heavens. And so our story begins with a divergence, one that may seem small but will have consequences that touch upon all aspects of human history.

Incredibly detailed alternate history story. Basically, what if humans detected Reapers and the death of Protheans as soon as they figured out radio? What if humans had several hundred years of post-scarcity, socialist unity to prepare for the threat? What if the Citadel being evil (for their genocidal approach to Rachni, Krogan, and Quarians) was explicit?
Only downside is that, like all stories in the "humanity fuck yeah" trope, the aliens feel dumber than the humans. Kinda. There are reasons. Author isn't ignoring that issue, and we get alien perspectives. Still, true first contact just happened around chapter 45, so we'll see more alien perspectives soon.
