Summary
Peter Parker has just started college. He’d been certain this would be different from high school. He’d make friends. He’d be almost popular. Too bad that those precious first few weeks he’d been too wrapped up in Aunt May’s condition, rushing to and from the hospital, to do any kind of socialising and now that the fog is lifted he finds himself once again unpopular and alienated, with the sole exception of one classmate - Johnny Storm. Johnny is an enigma. Cheerful, weird, and shockingly handsome, Peter doesn’t really know what to make of his new friend.
Spider-Man returns, dusting off his mask and swinging his way through New York, but there’s a newcomer he’s relieved appears to be friend not foe. Night by night he catches glimpses of a flaming man - a Human Torch - until eventually they meet face to face. Working as allies proves to be successful, and Spider-Man is glad of the burgeoning friendship.

I LOVE Happy in this. And honestly the reactions of everyone. They were so much more realistic and healthy than any other Peter/Tony fic I’ve stumbled on.
I lowkey read this because I love SpideyTorch and was hoping for some angst with them but I lowkey didn’t like this Johnny from the jump. I wanted to but putting your boyfriend in a position where he feels like he has to cover for you especially over something like a DUI is a harsh no for me.

“Johnny,” Rogue gasps. “I was joking! You didn’t actually get yourself a sugar daddy, did you?” She frowns at the P.I. logo, then adds: “And of all the damn CEOs you could have chosen… Parker, really? Spider-Man’s boss?”
“Okay, so he’s been buying me a lot of things,” Johnny acquiesces, holding his hands up in surrender. “But it’s really not like that. He can’t be my sugar daddy because I’m not sleeping with him, and besides” — Rogue arches an eyebrow, which makes Johnny falter — “he’s, uh, he’s younger than me?”
Spoiler: Johnny does end up sleeping with Peter. It’s all downhill from there.

Definitely a real/gritty version of Johnny after losing his family. I love how steadfast Peter and his relationship is. How Peter is exactly the love he needs but Johnny has to actually accept and realize it (and he does).

Johnny’s fire flickers with the faint wind, eyebrows pressed together and mouth turned to frown. “What are you implying?” He asks even though he has an inkling of what Spider-Man is telling him.
“I didn’t kill that man, furthermore I have no motive.” He shifts, his white emotionless eyes squinting. “It seems we have a copycat on our hands.”

In which Spider-Man has a copycat and is forced to work with the Fantastic Four to take them down. Along the way Johnny learns that there is more to the villain that meets the eye.
