Ch. 2: Rocky and Adrian speak (and sing) over the radio, quickly establishing that Rocky has NOT been kidnapped. Grace leaves the cockpit to give Rocky privacy during his conversation with Adrian, and has a slight breakdown over the realization that he’s actually likely to see another human again. Both Rocky and Grace end up falling asleep. Grace has a nightmare about Stratt sacrificing him.
When Grace wakes up, he finds Rocky still asleep. He speaks to Simon very briefly over the radio, and then to another of the Eridians on the ship, the captain, who he names ‘Kirk.’ Kirk explains who he is and how his ship works, and advises Grace to try to talk with Simon and Adrian later. Grace is eager to talk to another human again. Later, Rocky wakes up and he and Grace talk. Grace is sad about still not having gotten to speak to Simon.

Grace had stepped off of the plane, internally thanking Stratt that it hadn’t been a jet - they did not need a repeat of his arrival at the vat - taking a moment to relish the watery sunlight filtering through the sheet of grey clouds, before he was promptly knocked out cold
Yikes.
—————Grace is kidnapped, with his captors demanding a ransom of three million dollars for his return. A ransom that the Petrova task force cannot provide, no matter how many phone calls Stratt makes.
Guess they just have to do this the hard way. -

Summary
Grace and Rocky are one year away from Erid when an unidentified object slams into the Hail Mary. It's an object that shouldn't exist in a place that shouldn't hold problems.
Inside is a man that definitely shouldn't exist, too.
After a violent first meeting, Grace, Rocky, and their newfound passenger - Simon - are forced to survive the remainder of the trip to Erid together: low on supplies, stranded in deep space, and each carrying traumas from their difficult journeys.
Yet somehow, against all odds, they begin to build a life together aboard the ship.

Ch. 3: Grace, Rocky and Simon are attacked by the Blip F, which turns out to be the Blood Eel. While Rocky is unaffected, both Grace and Simon hear the voice and faint for a short time as a result of it. Rocky gets them to safety and out of the Eel’s path. When Simon is aware enough, they all discuss the Eel and the fact that it followed Simon through the literal vacuum of space.
