Summary
When kids ask "Trick or Treat?" at front doors on Halloween, they never think much of it. It's just what they've come to know as the way to ask for a treat on this special night, the 'trick' part of the prompt almost always forgotten.
Izuku Midoriya is in for a cruel surprise when he's unexpectedly met with one big trick when all he wanted was a few treats.
Lonely and sad, expecting nothing good to come out of trick or treating anymore, he's surprised again when a boy dressed as a wolf fixes his whole night with a simple gesture.

“So what's wrong?” Kaminari casually blurts. Hitoshi's head snaps up.
“What do you mean?” he says cautiously, eyes scanning Kaminari's face for any sign of bad intention. Instead they just catch on the tiny dots brushing his cheek that appear to be pale freckles. He is way too close.
“Well you don't seem to be enjoying it very much,” he says, pep still evident in his voice.
“I've never had much of a green thumb,” he replies bitterly, stabbing the dirt with the trowel, “kill everything I touch: plants, flowers,...” every relationship I've ever had.
“I could help you if you want!” he volunteers.

Hitoshi hates gardening with a passion. But he finds himself hating it a lot less than he expected. He suspects it has to do with the bright ray of sunshine who volunteers to help him. But then again, that's just a theory.

“I’m Midoriya Izuku,” he said, extending his hand. “By the way.”
The boy didn’t take it right away.
Instead, his gaze dropped to Izuku’s hand, lingering on the scars that crossed his knuckles and fingers—old fractures, healed wrong. For a moment, his expression flickered with something Izuku couldn’t place. Hesitation. Fear.Then, slowly, the boy lifted his own hand.
He reached out.And passed straight through.
A sharp, electric chill tore up Izuku’s arm, pins and needles erupting where their hands should have met. The sensation was wrong—too cold, too empty—and Izuku gasped, yanking his arm back as if burned.
“What the f—“
He looked up, horror flooding his chest, green eyes blown wide.The boy only smiled.
It wasn’t the dazzling grin from before. It was smaller. Sadder. Like he’d known this would happen and had been bracing for it all along.
The boy laughed softly, as he said, “Name’s Shirakumo Oboro,” he said. “And I’m— well. Not—”
The word landed fully formed in Izuku’s mind before it was ever spoken.
