The first time that TMZ tweeted a picture of Peter and MJ walking down the streets of the East Village speculating about the mystery man that MJ was certainly seeing, MJ had gotten so upset that she decided she wanted to keep their relationship separate from her career.
“I don’t want them involved with us, Pete,” she said, gesturing her phone at him wildly, the headline a black contrast against the white of her screen. “This is us, okay? I want this to just be for us. I don’t want them to ruin it.”
It had felt weird being the one protected from something, for once.
Or, MJ has a chance to win the first Academy Award of her career, and Peter is in their apartment three thousand miles away. Unsurprisingly, he's spiraling.
