Summary
The luck it had taken him to get into the 118, his first station, mind you, had never sat right with him. Then again, lots of things didn’t sit right.
Like the fact that on his last shift, he’d nearly been taken out by a supporting beam that the flames hadn’t even reached yet. Logically, Buck knew there was no reason for it to fall, and definitely no reason for it to fall directly at him. In a previous life, Buck would have thought it was planned. In this life, he chalked it up to a freak accident. Those things happened every day; he saw it every day. It was just a freak accident.
But then, Edmundo fucking Diaz showed up in his locker room, and Buck knew. He knew someone was trying to kill him.
~~
Buck is a retired spy trying to make his way as a firefighter. His life was going well until his old partner turned up undercover at his station. Eddie was tasked with being Buck's bodyguard now that they were the only two surviving members of their old team. Can they protect each other long enough to figure out who's systematically assassinating everyone from Buck's past life, while simultaneously hiding their connection from the rest of the 118?

Summary
Eddie thinks for a moment.
He can’t, he shouldn’t get caught up in the oxytocin-laced response of whatever this is. His heart sings desperate beneath its rapid pulse, and Eddie knows this feeling isn’t going away. He deliberates before proposing, “I’m good with casual.”
Buck works his lower lip into his mouth, lost in thought. He’s quick with his response. “Yeah. Casual. I’ll warn you though, I’ve never been great at casual.”
“Ok. Let’s make a deal: we keep our personal lives out of it. No personal details. No last names, nothing. Just two guys, being… casual.” Eddie realizes it makes no sense as soon as he says it. He blames it on the alcohol, but really, he’s just saying anything, anything he can think of to try and convince Buck to let Eddie see him again. He wonders if Buck’s groveling with himself just as much.
“Fuck it. Yeah, let’s do that.”Or, Buck meets Eddie at a bar and the two agree to keep things casual. Meanwhile, Mr. Buckley is a junior high teacher who meets Christopher Diaz, a student of his with an elusive single dad. These two things aren't connected, probably.

Summary
Evan Buckley buried the love of his life years ago. Eddie Diaz’s death was the wound Buck never recovered from—the folded flag, the funeral, the medals pressed into his hands were all he had left.
Except Eddie isn’t dead.
When Eddie walks into the 118 as their newest firefighter, Buck’s world comes crashing down all over again. Grief collides with longing, fury with love, and suddenly Buck is forced to face the man he mourned, the man who promised he’d come back, and the man who let him believe he never would.
Working side by side should be impossible. Pretending they’re just coworkers is unbearable. And when secrets, old promises, and new dangers come to light, Buck has to decide whether the man he buried is the same one he’s found—or if some ghosts can never be forgiven.
