Summary
Mary Bennet could be described with three words: intelligent, agreeable, and careful. She was also a damn good pianist, having dedicated her entire life to the study of the craft. As the only pianist for the London Symphony Orchestra, she was accomplished. Happy.

Summary
Tom Hayward thought he knew what it meant to wait in uncertainty. He had sat outside sickrooms before. Had listened to muffled, somber voices behind doors that would not open for him. He had thought, at that time, that it was the worst kind of distance. He was wrong. This was worse.
Tom's thoughts as he waits outside Mary's delivery room.
