“Well, do you have nothing to say for yourself?” Lan Wangji taunted the figure before her. They were bound hand and foot in white ribbon that was imbued with spiritual power to strengthen it to the same tension as the best quality rope, while not bearing nearly so encumbering.
There was no answer, so Lan Wangji strode over to the figure, stepping deliberately into their personal space. It didn’t get any reaction, which frustrated her, she was unused to people not responding to her. After a moment’s consideration, she reached out to undo the ties on their cloak and pulled it off. Her eyes widened and a gasp escaped her control at what she saw.
All the reports she had ever received told her that the Yiling Laozu was a man. Not only was the person in front of her female, but their form was one that was all too familiar to Lan Wangji: the Yiling Laozu was Wei Ying!

Without thinking clearly, the Lan lunged forwards after the ribbon and Wei Wuxian pivoted and performed a textbook disarm manoeuvre before tucking his own blade under the chin of his opponent.
“You really do look beautiful like this. Breath-taking, even. Do you yield?” Wei Wuxian was struck by the sight of this man defiant in the moonlight, like an ethereal Prince come down from the heavens.
The man was fisting his hands into the fabric at his sides hard enough that he risked tearing it. He was almost shaking with rage, but made no response other than to glare at Wei Wuxian.

It was unclear how long a pause he had before they started to do something new to him so Jiang Cheng tried to take a moment to catch his breath. The position he was in made that difficult. His hands were chained together and the metal chain ran up through a hook dangling from the ceiling. It was keeping his body straight up, with only his toes managing to keep in contact with the stone floor. His shoulders ached from the strain, as did his calves, stretched as they were. They had blindfolded him when they had dragged him in here so he had not seen much of his surroundings. Enough to tell that it seemed to be a soundproofed basement room of some sort, likely a torture chamber given what they had already put him through. All of it designed to keep him anxious and unsteady, both emotionally and physically.

Summary
Wei Wuxian remembers, a long time ago in basically another life, a college party where he managed to bully Lan Wangji into taking a single shot. The Second Jade had gone bleary and fallen asleep on a couch almost immediately. Wei Wuxian figured that in the intervening years his tolerance would have improved, or that a drunk Lan Zhan would immediately be followed by a sleeping Lan Zhan.
This supposition was, as it turns out, incorrect. Grown-ass adult Lan Zhan is, when drunk, something Wei Wuxian can only describe as white girl wasted.
Or: Lan Zhan gets drunk on Capitol Hill. Wei Wuxian isn't supposed to be the responsible one, but by god, he's gonna do it.

It's impossible. It's ridiculous. He and Di Feisheng aren't even friends.
