“Right,” she mumbles, turning to attach her bedroll to her pack. She’s slower and foggier than usual, and just about every time she has to use her core muscles — which is every time she fucking moves — her back protests as if it has the right to make her feel like shit. With a deep breath, Ellie closes her eyes and centers herself before turning back to Joel.
Fuck, he’s standing right there. Did he notice? She admitted weakness in front of him before, but she’d just shot someone up close for the first time, so sue her. She won’t make that mistake again; Joel won’t appreciate her being a pussy just because she’s in a little pain.
