He remembered something Peter once said, during one of their rooftop crash-courses back when Miles first got his powers.
“When I started, there was no one. No one like me. I had to figure it all out by messing up, getting hurt, and doing it again anyway. You got this.”
Peter’s hand on his shoulder felt grounding. His smile was sincere and heartfelt.
“Thank you, Peter.” Miles had told him.
At the time, it sounded cool. Brave. Heroic. Now it just sounded…lonely. Miles never wanted to do it alone.~~~

Kya, five months pregnant and with Sokka in a carrier slung over her back, took one look at Ursa as she first stepped onto the ice and immediately launched into full hostess mode. The Fire Nation woman barely had time to blink before she’d been whisked away to the chieftain’s tent to receive much warmer clothing, her son and daughter similarly situated nearly as quickly. It felt distinctly odd to see such obvious outsiders dressed in the colors of his people, but after a bit of staring Hakoda shrugged it off and settled back into the routines of village life.

Summary
Silence hangs between them and Azula wants to flee, wants to take the words back and return to her room but Zuko shifts and pulls her into a hug before she can do any of those things. “Do you love me and mom?”
The question catches her by surprise. Zuko is gentle and kind-hearted, certainly in comparison to herself and their father, so while she doubted he would push her away, she had expected him to ask her what she did that was cruel and hateful. Not this.
“Of course I do.”
The problem is, she doesn’t think her version of love is the good kind.
Or, Ursa isn't a completely terrible parent and that changes nearly everything.
