Summary
Caitlyn says, “I want you here,” like it’s the simplest thing in the world, and when she draws the tip of Vi’s index finger just between her parted lips, Vi momentarily forgets how to breathe.
She can’t help the punched out sound she makes when Caitlyn lightly takes the digit between her teeth, but even if she could, it wouldn’t be worth missing the way Caitlyn’s eyes darken with understanding. She risks a taste, delicately licking at the calloused pad of Vi’s fingertip, and when Vi melts into the contact like a candle by an open blaze, Caitlyn drops every pretense to draw her in deeper.
And to say that she’s flustered would be a gross understatement, because after everything Vi’s survived to this point, Caitlyn Kiramman might actually be the death of her.

“No, Adora. It wasn’t—it was a good dream,” she manages to choke out through gritted teeth, and the admission is enough to earn her a profoundly confused look.
She clears her throat and tries again. “It was a really good dream.”
