Summary
“I promised to stay with Bonnie if she let you go,” Buck says suddenly. His voice is low, almost quiet, and yet the words seem to fill the whole room.
A chill runs its way up the length of Eddie’s spine, and he’s frozen as Buck’s words sink in.“What?” Eddie asks, his voice quiet with a calm and control he does not feel.
Buck’s response is immediate – practised. Eddie wouldn’t be surprised if Buck had spent most of his shower mapping the course of this conversation.
“You had to get back to Christopher.” He answers immediately, and that’s all it takes. The safety of silence has been destroyed. There’s no turning back now as something hot and wild rips through Eddie’s entire body.
“And you don’t?” Eddie retorts as he whips around to finally face Buck.
or Eddie finds out about Buck's promise to Bonnie and promptly fucks him about it.

“Anything, Eddie! Literally anything honest! I feel like we have conversation after conversation, and nothing actually gets said. I don’t know what’s changed, and I am literally begging you to talk to me! I miss you, I miss our friendship, I miss… us,” Buck runs out of steam towards the end, his voice breaking.

Buck injures his hand during a rescue. Nothing major, but enough that he can’t use it properly for a few days. Eddie insists on helping him with everything. Buck keeps saying he’s fine, but Eddie won’t let him lift a finger. It starts as teasing—Eddie cooking for him (or at least trying to), tying his shoelaces, even brushing his hair. But as the days go on, the tenderness in Eddie’s gestures starts to blur the line between friendship and something… more.
