Rodion pauses to look him up and down, a questioning expression across her face. She ponders his meaning for a bit; after a sigh, she settles for nodding.
"I hate admitting this, but I do miss those times." Gregor adds a small, melancholic smile. "I'm not scared of walking in the Backstreets without any weapons on me—my life is expendable to the powers above and to others below. So long as we do our part."
She's nodding the whole time; it's the sort that she's seen way too many times. Gregor isn't exactly unique; you can hardly call any person special nowadays. Their dreams, wishes, and talents: they mean scarce when this City makes an effort to steal them from them. There's nothing for people without power, nothing worth fighting for anymore in an empty and vast existence.
"I want to be... admired. Pathetic, right? I wanna compensate for how pathetic I feel when nobody looks at me with admiration. But if I had that," Gregor lets the words spill from his lips, thoughts long lost and gone, yet capable of piercing his heart. "What else would I need?"
