Summary
After the war is over, William Laurence and Temeraire go to live on the estate of Tenzing Tharkay. It is a brave new world.
30 days' worth of prompts -- ranging from drabbles to over-long fics in their own right -- all (mostly) in the same post-canon story I am projecting for them. Narrative is non-linear but canon-compliant, so spoilers for all 9 Temeraire novels.
(Ratings differ for each chapter so check the index in Chapter 1/Index. Any chapter-specific CWs/TWs will be listed in the chapter notes.)

"I am pleasantly located in the deep sea, but love will row you out if her hands are strong, and don't wait till I land, for I'm going ashore on the other side." (Emily Dickinson, letter to Kate Anthon, late 1859?)

Through the ages, here are some of the thing humans have tended to get wrong:
• the nature of Heaven (because humans are paranoid)
• the nature of Hell (because humans are thick)
• the importance of loyalty (because humans are sentimental)
• the inevitability of progress (see above)
• what's right in front of themCrowley, of course, is a demon. He doesn't get things wrong. He's 99% sure of that.
(Or: Crowley spends the course of human history wondering about touch.)

Ode to Broken Things by ArabellaStrange
Fandom Sherlock (TV), Sherlock Holmes & Related Fandoms
11 Apr 2017
Summary
A series in (at least) three parts.
'With Mary, he’d done everything in the right order — if at breakneck speed: flirting, sex, seriousness, rude and awkward realism, proper caring. He and Sherlock, though, had spent so many years loving each other quietly, imagining fantasy versions of each other, in amongst the everyday of bad tempers and absent-minded scratching, that never were interrupted by mismatched desires or poor communication. Was it possible (he thought, in a slightly out-of-body way, scrawling out a prescription) they had missed the opportunity to be in love with each other?'
*Thanks to a tremendous gift from @Hamstermoon, the series now has COVER-ART!*

Summary
Ilya is not going to steal Shane Hollander's dog. That would be illegal. And wrong. And someone would probably find out and make Ilya give him back.
So. Not stealing.
But there is nothing wrong with giving Chernysh all the pats and treats that he deserves, is there?
Nothing wrong with encouraging Chernysh to spend more and more time at Ilya's house until he doesn't even remember who Hollander is.
Because Hollander is stupid and boring and does not deserve a dog as good as Chernysh. No, he doesn't, does he? Because Chernysh is the best boy in the whole world, yes he is.

Hollanov; AU (light magical realism).
Not to spoil the surprise, but: the one with Chernysh, the really lovely dog who comes over while a post-Russian Hockey League Ilya is crashing (out) in Svetlana's Boston house next door. Lo and behold, Shane Hollander is a pesky, intriguing neighbour with an affectionate, lovable dog. Ilya doesn't stand a chance.
Made me want to cry. Also several moments were *extremely* hot. Just so lovely. Gonna re-read.

Summary
Shane Hollander is a man who thrives on structure, routine, the solid ground of a ten-year plan. Ilya likes that about him, likes the embracing squeeze of having a life organized in tandem with Shane.
No one would call Ilya a man who thrives on structure. But it’s there, if not in his DNA then in the patterns of his brain. A call-and-response of: they do this, I do that.
When Ilya’s life is flayed open for the world to dissect, how will they push-and-pull their way back towards what was once a well-organized life?
“I thought we could go through the schedules and figure out what days we’ll be in the same cities this season, or when either of us have a couple of days off in a row. Maybe make a shared calendar, so we c—”
“A sex calendar? Your parents are arriving in thirty minutes, and you are proposing making a sex calendar?” Oh, this was delicious. He’d be able to eat out on this for years, if Shane was willing to give him that long.
“It’s not a sex calendar! It’s just … when we might be able to see each other,” he finished, already sounding defeated.
“And what are you planning on doing when we are seeing each other? Not fucking?”

Hollanov: AU where Ilya is outed before Shane and before starting at Ottawa.
The inherent eroticism of a well-crafted Google shared burner-account calendar. Lovely stuff, re-read and to be re-read yet again. Namely — Maxim the schema therapist; Ilya so down-bad for Shane is alters his brain chemistry; Jane’s Mama on Ilya’s top contacts; supportive! Cliff, St-Simon, JJ, et al; all the wolves of his want… and the learning to name them aloud. For little Ilyushka’s sake.
a comfort read (as we trudge through the angst and find the love)

Bookmarker's Notes
Hollanov; post-cottage; Duty of Care series (but also CBR as stand-alone).
Listen sometimes takes come up on tumblr that say 'Oh Ilya would love to drool over butch Shane #ManlyCoded household competencies' and 'Certified City Boy Ilya Rozanov would lose his mind to watch Shane fix a broken tap' and 'calendars are Shane's love language' and guys? It's been covered so thoroughly, so beautifully, so hotly, so hilariously that we can simply sit in the QED of it all.
Or: hypervigilance, thy name is Shane Hollander; boringsexual Ilya Rozanov loses it over colour-coding.

Summary
“I’m sorry,” Shane chokes, closing his eyes. Rozanov draws his hand, pulling Shane’s with it, to his face and wipes his cheeks.
“There is nothing to be sorry for, любовь моя, it is okay,” Rozanov murmurs, tugging at Shane’s hair again. Shane exhales, letting him clean his cheeks. “You got overwhelmed, yes? It happens.”
“I can’t be fucking normal,” Shane says quietly, whining, head falling back, pressing into Rozanov’s hand.
“No, if you were fucking normal, you would not be my Shane.”

Hollanov; canon-divergence (outed differently).
Why didn't I bookmark this, when I think about it often? Especially the scene where Shane goes into full shutdown and Hayden watches in dawning awe as Ilya helps bring Shane back from a panic attack. A gorgeous arc of vulnerability and unfair expectations and self-imposed restrictions and finally, finally, joy.
