Summary
A man from the 21st century awakens in the nightmare-world of Nostramo—only to be found by the Eighth Primarch himself. The man was never meant to exist in this age, and his presence starts to tilt the scales of fate. Old tragedies begin to unravel. Impossible mercy takes root where none should.
But the Warp is not the highest stage.
Beyond the gods of Chaos, beyond the Emperor’s dream, there are vaster realms and unseen watchers—entities who look upon the Warhammer universe like a play with a predetermined ending… and decide, at last, to intervene.
Champions are chosen. A baby is born. Paths are diverted.
And the galaxy begins to break from canon.

With each year the Indomitus Crusade progresses, the Chaos Gods grow more and more annoyed as Roboute Guilliman continuously interferes with their plans and powers. But they know killing him will be too difficult and costly; the Corpse Emperor of Mankind protects his tool well. So, instead, they lay a trap and cast the nuisance 13th Primarch into an alternate timeline.

Roboute is confused—more than he has been since, arguably, the Battle at Calth. He almost wonders if he is hallucinating; it has been nearly half a year since he last slept, and he has just returned from a decade-long campaign in Imperium Nihilus.
Before him stands Decimus Androdinus Felix—his son and tetrarch—who has lost his usual composure. Instead, he looks vaguely disturbed as he repeats himself, "Nearby Chapters have reported to me—there is a peculiar... rumor spreading that you and the Emperor... are married."
