    Shane loved baseball the way the earth orbited the sun. It was a constant in his life, never changing, always solidly, dependably present.

    He loved it through the slumps, when he would barely bat .200, he loved it when it rained or when it was over a hundred degrees. He even loved it during drills, although that was probably when he loved it least.

    He had had a picture of the Commissioner’s Trophy on his wall since he was eight years old; a goal, something to aspire to, something to make the travel ball, summer ball, fall training, and no social life outside of the dugout worth it.

    One day, he would stand in a major league ballpark, and lift that trophy over his head.

    Or, Shane's life revolves around baseball. It is the thing he cares most about in the world. Until his junior year, when a new transfer walks onto his team, and Ilya Rozanov proceeds to change his life.

    This is boring.

    The thought floated across Shane’s brain like one of those banners tied to the tail of a plane. Or maybe like a screensaver on a nineties computer, one that would have been in a separate room from the rest of the house.

    Or maybe he was just coming up with different descriptors for it to distract from how boring it was.

    The whole thing would be mildly more interesting if Shane were at all interested in cars or how they worked. But he wasn’t, no matter how much his husband tried to convince him to be, so a luxury car auction was not exactly his idea of fun on the first vacation they had had together in two years.

    Or, Shane attends at a high-end car auction, and sits next to the most handsome man he’s ever seen.

    That man is not his husband.

    “That’s a pretty stupid plan.”
    “No. A stupid plan would be one that involves talking to you any more than I have to. Goodbye Pike. We never speak of this.”
    At that moment, the phone in Hayden’s hand buzzes. He looks at the contact and sees the name “Jane <3.” Without thinking, Hayden asks, more to himself, “Who’s Jane?”
    Suddenly, Rozanov’s tone changes, “No! You do not speak to Jane! Jane is off limits.”
    Hayden is curious, “Who is she?”
    “She is no one, so you do not speak to her. Yes?”

    Or, Ilya and Hayden body swap for a few days and it goes about as well as you'd expect
