Summary
I find the character of SecUnit 03, a.k.a. Three, intriguing from a storytelling perspective. It is ‘tabula rasa’ in ways that Murderbot is not and cannot be. This takes place during the little-described period of waiting at the end of Network Effect, and will almost certainly be non-canon after System Collapse comes out.
Heed the tags. Three will find its way in the end (because that is how I roll), but it has not escaped the Corporation Rim unscathed. There will be pain, fear, self-doubt, depression, and one very bad decision as Three stumbles its way out of the past.

“I wasn’t aware you knew Senator Levu,” Windu spoke cautiously, leaning forward in his seat as well.
Anakin shakes his head, but his body feels slow as if he’s moving through that awful jello that the GAR thinks is dessert. “I had a dream about her last night,” he says numbly.
The sense of dread hollows out his chest cavity and doesn’t seem intent on leaving. Every inch of Anakin’s being is screaming to run. His skin itches like he’s about to be thrown into jail as if he killed this senator.
“A dream you had?” Master Yoda speaks for the first time since Anakin entered, ears twitching in concern. “Like your mother, this dream?”
Anakin shakes his head again, “No. No, I… at least I didn’t think so. She was scared; she was running away from something, but I didn’t see what it was.”
“What were you doing in this dream?”
I think I was the one chasing her. “Just watching.”

“B,” Dick cries, dropping into his chest, shoulders shaking.
For an awful, awful moment, Dick realizes he’s made a mistake. He’s not twelve anymore—the kid who crawled into Batman’s lap is gone, grown up. He shouldn’t be doing this, he shouldn’t need this.
And then Bruce’s arms fold him in closer. “Shh,” he murmurs. “It’s okay.”
Dick cries harder, he’s desperate, dragging himself onto Bruce to wrap winding limbs around him. He doesn’t want to let go. Everything hurts, inside and out, and he wants…he wants…
“Dad,” Dick says. “Dad, help.”
