That smell…
It was almost human. Almost because there was something about it that was wrong, something that twisted it. It almost smelled like a demon, but there was a different note to it - something smoky and not all that unpleasant.
“There is something in there.”
Zenitsu squeaked, “The demon is in there?!”
Tanjiro shook his head, “No, I don’t think so. The entire house smells like… I’m not sure what it is, but it’s probably not a demon.”
“PROBABLY?!”
Tanjiro continued, ignoring the outburst, “I can’t be sure, though. Stay on your guard.”
With that, he started toward the house, companions trailing behind with varying levels of enthusiasm.
