Summary
Ryland Grace did not expect to see another person outside of his dreams ever again. He was certainly not prepared for the mutated “human” that the eridians brought to his lab. Furthermore, he was even less prepared for the baggage and weirdly confusing feelings that came along with him.
Simon did not expect to be shown kindness from another person ever again. Especially not one that looks like he speaks for The Light itself.

Simon wakes up. He hadn't thought he would wake up after his lungs were filled with blood. And yet, here he is, in a pitch-black room, wounds tended to, listening to the most beautiful song he's ever heard.
He's in a world where the stars are alive, and he's been rescued from his blood-soaked iron coffin by a strange, clever little rock-spider alien trying to save the stars. Of course he'll help. Too bad neither of them are biologists...

Simon just kind of woke up here. Is it a different planet? Is he dead? There's a large rock spider and a man who likes to follow him around here, and Simon doesn't know how to feel about that.
Unwilling to talk to, or trust, the man that Simon found himself living with he has to come to terms with living in a safe place after a life of fighting to survive.Grace has two lives, Earth and Arid. He's eternally grateful to be alive and with friends and Rocky, but he finds himself missing a human connection and community he misses from Earth.
