And then he’s lifted the gun up with a steady but quick hold, and he’s raising it and raising it-
But he isn’t pointing it at Erik.
Those clever fingers are raising the gun, and Charles’ holding it against his own forehead.
Erik feels his heart stop.
“You want to stop it, Erik? Go ahead. Stop the bullet.”

What if things had happened differently at the end of Talismans?
Walter was slouched forward ever so slightly. His shirt was torn and filthy, slashed open to reveal the dark edges of forming bruises and dried blood. His neck, like the rest of his visible flesh, was adorned with a halo of molten tones and finger prints, like someone had held their fingers at his throat for longer than the minute earlier.
The rebel held a gun to Walter’s head and threatened to shoot, and the younger man looked almost accepting.
Cabe could swear he’d never been in a more terrifying situation in his entire life.
In which Walter and Cabe are captured by rebels, and the agent finds out just how far the genius is willing to go for him.

How many drinks have you had?” Toby asked, taking the near-empty cup from Walter's fingers. Walter looked confused by the question, and that was another red flag. “Walter, how many drinks?”
“Just the one,” Walter answered dazedly, almost like a question. Toby quirked a brow, looking at the cup.
Suddenly, Toby had a terrible idea of what happened, and looked back at his friend. “Did you leave your drink alone?”
