you and dean hate each other. there isn't a moment you aren't fighting, just like there isn't a moment you don't wish he'd love you back, and there isn't a single second he doesn't want you more than you can imagine.

Summary
"I want to see."
"Wh-what?" Mel blinked at his sudden words. Langdon tilted his head down toward her and held the bear out. Mel felt dizzy with déjà vu as he gestured for her to take it.
"I want to see what you did to him. Show me."
Mel took the bear slowly, her mind whirling too fast to keep up with. She had never felt so confused and so turned on in all her life. "You want me to…?"
"Yes." Langdon's gaze was dark and cool as he regarded her, but she didn't miss the rapid rise and fall of his chest as he spoke. "Show me exactly what you did last night to the prize I won you."
The day after Langdon wins Mel a teddy bear at the county fair, which she then used for… less-than-innocent purposes, she is determined to leave her crush on the married man behind. But when Mel accidentally sends him an indecent picture involving the bear, she realizes this crush might not be one she can ever recover from.

Summary
She had never used a stuffed animal to self-pleasure before, so every sensation was something new and enticing as she tightened her thighs around her prize. The prize he had won for her. Not for his wife— for her.
Mel picked up the pace of her hips, her spine straightening and her fingers white-knuckling into her blankets as she anchored herself in place and rode the stuffed bear more confidently. He had won this bear for her. The realization, the memory, was dizzying. She wondered what he would say if he knew what she was doing to her prize later that very same evening. She wondered what his face would look like if he could see her right now.
In which Langdon wins Mel a stuffed bear at the county fair and she can't stop thinking about it… or about the deeply inappropriate longing she feels for her married colleague. Resigned in her yearning, Mel takes matters into her own hands for one indulgent night.

Summary
They were friends.
And yeah, maybe the ring on his finger sort of burned when he looked at her sometimes, even though it was just for show, now.
It was just easier to let her keep thinking he was still married to Abby. Safer.
It raised less eyebrows about the nature of their friendship when the ring stayed on while he was at work, the weight on his finger reminding him not to say or do anything stupid.
It also made it a little less creepy when the pet names started slipping out.
