Summary
When Grace gets seemingly teleported by means unknown into the SM-13 right as it was nearing The Light, both Simon and Grace have no idea what is happening. Grace knows he was supposed to be in his house on Erid, Simon knows this new guy cannot possibly be a hallucination, and Ava, upon hearing Grace ramble about theories for how he got there, knows that new guy is Smart. Could-Secure-Our-Survival Smart.
She orders Simon to bring Grace back to the surface, and thus begins Grace's ordeal in a starless universe. -

When Grace landed on a random moon in a solar system devoid of stars, he had lost hope. They weren't going to make it back to Erid. He wouldn't be able to get Rocky home.
But meeting a stranger gives him a new sense of hope.Simon had thought he was going to die down in that blood ocean. Perhaps he had.
He deserved Hell for the life he had lived. So then why did god send an angel? -

Summary
With Simon, his issues are clear. he doesn't care to hide them, nor is he good at it. It always blows up.
With Ryland... It's harder to tell. Simon knows he's been hurt, but not the extent of it. He's also rather upset that it takes a fever nearly boiling Ryland's brain for any of it to properly come to light.
