Lady Luck is elusive.
For Laurent, luck and good fortune doesn't exist. World would not make itself soft for you. You need to be strong enough to shatter earth itself but not yourself when you fall. Laurent knew that very well.
But things had been changing for him; he was changing, growing. And maybe this was time to change the way of thinking, challenge himself to change the way he was evolving...

Summary
Laurent knew that what he had with Damen was too good to be true, too fragile. They weren’t going to last and for Laurent, half the fun was in predicting which one of his toxic traits was going to tear them apart first.
Otherwise known as "Laurent being a self sabotaging precious bean"

Summary
Trust was a luxury Laurent couldn't afford in abundance. Laurent had mastered the art of letting go where the protection of his heart was concerned, simply because tired, fragile, battle worn things needed extra careful and cautious handling. And protecting himself was no one's business but his own.
Damen was the walking, talking metaphor of 'wearing heart on sleeves'. Privileged upbringing did not prevent him from acknowledging or appreciating real and good things. And he would fight anyone and everyone, even Laurent himself, to give him a chance to finally be with someone who makes his easily swayed heart strong and rooted.

Summary
Damen had learnt how to pick and choose his battles when it came to Laurent.
Nikandros? Not so much. Let's just say patient was not one of his virtues.
So, Damen made himself comfortable and settled in for what proved to be one of those long drawn out Laurent-Nikandros shouting match. Well, Nikandros did all the shouting, Laurent never lost his cool.

Summary
“I’m sorry I’m not him,” Shane says, looking away.
“Who?”
“Future me. Whoever you fell in love with.” What’s unsaid hangs in the air: whoever fell in love with you. Because this Shane – 2010 Shane – doesn’t love him. Is amused by their daily lessons, comforted by his presence, even grateful. But love?
“That’s the thing, Shane,” Ilya says. His eyes are shining. “You are, right now, exactly who I fell in love with.”
In 2031, Shane wakes up in the hospital certain that it's 2010. Ilya is there to remind him of the two decades he's missed and the life they've built along the way.

Summary
“Sweetheart, your pretty little head is so silly. For every photocard I make of ugly hockey men, I make two of my gorgeous, radiant, pulchritudinous boyfriend. Sometimes three.”
A smile breaks through the heated haze of Shane’s expression. “You’ve been using the thesaurus Dad got you for Christmas?”
“I will beat Yuna Hollander at Scrabble one day,” Ilya declares against Shane’s hip bone.
In the year between the Cottage and the Centaurs, Ilya misses Shane more than ever. Svetlana’s teenage cousin offers a coping method: Kpop-style Shane Hollander photocards to stare at all day long. It's a shame carrying around pictures of fellow hockey players is just not socially acceptable.
…At least, not yet.
(AKA: Ilya's mission to desensitize the hockey world to his Hollander fanboyisms, and the NHL players that suffer for it.) -

Summary
It’s dark, and Ilya’s not quite sure where he is.
His entire body is numb. His shoes are soaking wet from trudging lazily through the snow. His nose is running, and his lips are chapped.
Selfishly, he wishes Shane would fuss over him now. Pull him close, whisper “I forgive you” even though he shouldn’t, because Ilya would never change, because something inside him- in his family line, in his soul- was broken.
Ilya wondered how long ago it had clicked- when Shane had realized that Ilya wormed his way into this country and tricked the Hollanders into caring for him, then returned the favor by botching their language and leaving a trail of mess in his wake. He still can't help but wonder if that will be part of his punishment- being doomed to miss him in death, too.
or: Ilya’s mostly been able to cope with the fact that he’ll never be able to articulate himself fully in this country- but he’s also never been good at talking about feelings in the first place.
"I'm tired" is the best he's got. It definitely doesn't capture what's going on in his head, and Shane can't read minds.
