“Hey, what’s that one from?” Tommy asked, his finger brushing over the small scar that Buck had all but forgotten was even there.
“That’s a memento from a very unfortunate first date,” Buck said, not thinking twice about it.
Tommy pulled back entirely, staring down at him with horror. “She tried to slit your throat?”
“What? No!” Buck was quick to correct him, wincing at his own wording that he could see might have been misinterpreted in a much more horrific way. Considering how embarrassing the truth was, maybe he should have stuck with that story but getting that horrified look off of Tommy’s face was his current priority. “She had to perform a tracheotomy to save my life after I choked on a piece of bread on our first official date.”
Or, the one in which Buck and Tommy cross yet another first off of the list and learn even more about each other in the process

“What did you do?”
“You know,” he said, chancing one last quick glance at his boyfriend before the lights turned green and he focused back on the street. “Being a bit possessive over you.”
“A bit?” TK teased, but it was light and clearly amused, and Carlos didn’t even need to look at him to know he was grinning. “I would say that was probably more than just ‘a bit’.”
“Fine.” Carlos huffed out a laugh, trying to tame his nerves. Surely, TK wouldn’t react like this if he was mad at him, right? “Totally possessive then. Was it… I mean… is that bad?”~*~
Carlos is not a jealous person. More importantly, he trusts TK with all his heart. But that doesn’t keep him from getting possessive over the love of his life from time to time – which leads to some much-needed communication between the two as their relationship grows.

Summary
“That's the thing about love. Most of the time, it's beautiful. It's a feeling unlike any other, and even when it got complicated it was almost always worth it.
Sometimes, it also sucks. It brings pain and heartache, and every now and then the bad memories begin to overpower whatever love that once existed between two people until it ultimately tears them apart in the end."
Carlos has been lost these past couple of months without TK by his side. To his friends and his family, every day is simply just another day. He figures that as long as he keeps his pain locked away, the hurt will eventually dull. It's his shield. It's the only way he's ever known how to grieve.
The universe has a different plan for him this time.
All it takes is one frozen lake, one fateful radio call, and the possibility of losing TK forever that forces him to confront it all.

But when TK ends up trapped in a classroom with his team after the train accident and the chlorine gas, he doesn't have much of a choice. He finds himself on the phone with Carlos, on the chance he isn't able to make it home.
