    Soren never made it to the village in Gallia, under the care of a woman who hated him, nor was he sold to a sage who abused him, nor was he found dying and saved by Ike. Instead, he was raised under his father's thumb, becoming a feared and hated ghost by the people.

    Ike never had his studious mage friend at his side growing up, and the role of Staff Officer was carried about by Greil and Titania for many years until being filled suddenly when Daein attacked.

    At some point, their paths might cross, but will Ike be able to befriend Soren as easily as he could have if they had met as children?

    A story of how Path of Radiance might have looked if Soren was raised as a Prince instead of Ike's shadow.

    The boy was a slip of a thing, half-starved with hungry eyes. His hair was long and dark, his clothes threadbare but neat. He looked about Ike’s age, but he spoke like a scholar, his words clipped and sharply enunciated.

    It was the mark, though, that drew Greil’s attention. It had been almost fifteen years, but he still recognized it. The last time he’d seen it, the boy had been an infant.

    The boy looked nothing like his father. He had his mother’s wary eyes.

    And yet, Soren couldn't help but let out the smallest smile. Sentimentals were often useless, but knowing for now he had a steady place, a steady bed, a steady desk, a window, of all things… it was a mere logical sense to be appreciative.

    It wasn't perfect, even the average inn had better structure, by looking on further inspection every other brick in the wall was displaced slightly. The desk looked dusty, uncleaned in years and rough on its edges. And he was sure having the window without a curtain would eventually get tiring in the morning when the sun would shine directly on his face, disrupting his inevitably short slumber.

    But he would wake up here, and thats what mattered.
