Rachel paused for a moment as she loaded supplies onto the U.S. Naval Destroyer that was to be her ride up to the Arctic. A few wing beats thumped through the air above, followed by a quiet rustling in the wind. One of the nearby sailors helping her caught the movement and chuckled quietly.
“Oh don't mind her, Dr. Scott. That's just the Captain's Harpy eagle conducting one of her flybys.” The sailor gave her a grin and leaned in with a conspiratorial whisper.
