Summary
It's not that he's ashamed of being predisposed to hanahaki. That was just bad luck on the genetic lottery. But he can't stand all the questions and the looks that people give him once they know that he's sick because somebody doesn't love him back. The flowers and the mild chest pain he can take, but the pity? He loathes it.
Now, as he looks back on it all, he feels really stupid for not paying attention to the warning signs. And also for allowing this to happen in the first place. All because Klavier fucking Gavin had gotten a little too charming, and Apollo had gotten a little too comfortable with it, and now what once was a small crush became — what?
He frowns at his own question. He's not sure. Something bigger. Something large enough to turn his lungs into some stupid garden.
Apollo develops (non-deadly) hanahaki, realizing that his feelings for Klavier go beyond a workplace crush. His solution? Ignore the problem until it goes away. But soon enough he will realize that he can't outrun his own emotions, and that he knows a lot less about his own illness than he once thought.
