The man raised an eyebrow again.
“The doctor’s said you probably aren’t able to use them just yet,” he said. “I’m surprised. They did a good job on you.”
What the fuck am I supposed to say to that?
Curly opened his mouth, closed it, then swallowed. The reconstructed cartilage in his throat bobbed up and down.
His scorched throat, drowning from smoke inhalation, did not scream in agony. He could swallow. He could move his tongue. He had lips, heavily scarred and tender to the touch. He could even—
“Who…” Curly rasped, the syllable, uncertain, struggling, fading in his mouth. Seven years and six months of hell, all rolled into one.
He swallowed again, blissful relief, blissful

“Who… are you?”
“Me?” the man in the suit said, sitting back in his seat, “I’m your lawyer, boy. You fucked up big time.”

Mab Dachi -- A long-bladed katana said to have been forged by a renowned blacksmith in medieval Japan after being instructed to do so in a dream by Queen Mab, the queen of the faeries. Said to be able to cut through anything when in the hands of a skilled swordsman, it was used by a procession of famed warriors over a long history of war. The blade is inhabited by the Infernal Demon Cheshire, a creature that is seemingly equal parts mischievous cat and trained bear. Over time, the katana came into Viola's possession, but some way that this was the result of the blade itself seeking the rightful heir to the faerie's power.
An AU/prequel to Bayonetta 3 where Viola finds out about her fae heritage after finding Mab Dachi.

The falcon nodded her head.
“I’m…” she swallowed, pushing the sentence out painfully. “I’m two weeks along. I just tested this morning. I’m…I don’t know what I’m going to do. I-I wish you were here. I’ve never felt so alone.”
The falcon waddled into Cereza’s lap and sat down, cuddling her. Cereza wrapped her arms around the massive bird, feeling her hands sink into her oily feathers. The knot in her stomach deepened. The weight of the bird was comforting against her, as if protecting her little secret.

Summary
When Cyrus was a child, his father taught him how to shoot.
It wasn’t a pistol like his mother’s, but a string of light strung between a dual-bladed holy glaive, nocked with an arrow made from a peacock’s feather. When imbued with a little bit of Light Art magic, the peacock feather grew into an arrow made of light with fletchings made of the same feather.
It weighed barely a gram and yet could pierce the toughest of armour and skin with ease. Sometimes it pierced right through, like a normal arrow. Other times it exploded on contact in a ball of divine flame or lightning. On the very rare occasion, it would mark the target for easier tracking.
When aimed with the Left Eye of Darkness, whatever the arrow was, it never missed.

Hesitant, she pulled the hat off his face, then set it down by his side. Her blue lipstick was faded and wiped off in some places, her chapped lips forcing themselves to be known as she tried to smile. It hurt to smile in places. “Heya, Luka, glad to see you shifted back. How ya feeling?”
It was dark, but he still winced against the light from the fire. He sunk into Cheshire’s plush fabric fur more, managing to turn his head away until his eyes adjusted.
“Bad,” he managed, closing his eyes, “but at least the voice stopped.”
