If you were to ask him, there was no place on earth more beautiful than June in Wyoming. Wide and flat, the expansive plains engulf you—the colour of spring green, chestnut, and straw. The mountains, rugged and white peaked, were cut with deep valleys and crystal lakes that took his breath away. The sky, so vast it seemed to kiss the distant mountains, was a rich shade of blue most days, dotted with white clouds that rarely turned grey.
Albus had traveled extensively throughout the States in the two years since he’d arrived, but no place held his heart quite like Yellowstone's magical creature preserve, the Grand Prismatic Sanctuary.
At The Grand, Albus was just Albus, magizoologist in training, just like everyone else. The Slytherin Squib footnote had been inked out, along with every other comparison to his father's extraordinary legacy, and his own lack thereof. He hadn’t meant to leave Scorpius behind as well, but then, in some ways, maybe he had.

“How does it work?” Albus asks, his curiosity piqued. He picks up a small, heart-shaped block of painted wood with a magnifying glass in the centre and taps it against the board. Nothing happens.
“It’s like a game,” Scorpius explains, sitting on the bed and gesturing for Albus to join him. “The kids put their fingers on the planchette and pretend to perform a séance. Supposedly, the spirit communicates with them by moving the planchette over the letters and numbers on the board. There is always one cheeky kid that moves it themselves, to trick the others.”Albus has been hiding his feelings for Scorpius for as long as he can remember. It takes a bit of luck, a spirit board, and four whimsical spirits to show him what's possible.

All ficlets/drabbles in this series will be based on a song. It's highly recommended that you listen to the song to get better idea of the context, but hey, musical taste is incredibly variable. I get that. So listen if you want to, but hopefully the fics will stand up on their own. Truth be told, I don't expect a lot of traffic here. Most of this will very much be self indulgent. :)
