After The Hundred Years War, in a time of Change, Azula remains… confused, and hurt, and lost, and wildly unprepared to deal with a world where she lost. Still seeing visions of her parents, treating her poorly, and still a danger to herself and others, Zuko asks Katara for help. Katara, who should hate Azula, but instead finds compassion for the Fire Nation Princess.
It doesn’t hurt that Azula’s pretty.

Summary
Much like my 2021 31 Days of Kyalin work, this will be a collection of 31 Winter/Christmas themed one-shots featuring some of my favorite queer ships in the Avatar universe. The outrage on peasant girl’s face is worth being thrown back to her cell by the guard captain for insubordination.

She could still hear people crying in pain, calling her a monster, and she felt her father's gaze in her peripheral vision.
She inhaled the smoke again.
She was so physically locked up that she didn't even hear the bar's door open and footsteps approaching.
"Hi..."
Katara's voice startled her; she turned quickly as if ready to fight, but then remembered she wasn't sixteen anymore.
Katara took a step back placing her hand on her canteen, but Azula immediately relaxed, which the waterbender found strange.
"I'm sorry, I... I didn't... Hi." She gave up trying to explain because she saw in the woman's eyes that she understood what had happened.
"I don't know why I came here," the blue-eyed woman said sincerely.
Azula chuckled and took a drag of her cigarette.
"You smoke?" the princess asked, handing over the cigarette.
Katara didn't hesitate to take it, and the princess noticed the mark of the ring on her finger that was no longer there.
