Summary
Megatron isn't known for his patience with his subordinates. When he asks for something, he really doesn't seem to accept failure. And he doesn't react well to misbehaving and insubordination.
But sometimes the strong and cruel leader of the Decepticons must realize he's not the only one who needs his soldiers to do something for him, the fact is that they'd never dare going to him and ask for help. In those moments he needs to learn how to read their mind through their behavior.
Especially if it's someone like Blitzwing the one who needs help from his leader, but doesn't even know himself what he may need -

Megatron is tired of Starscream's constant failures. One day, while they were arguing (just as the usual) Starscream did something that he would regret for the rest of his life. Of course, Megatron wouldn't allow such a negative behavior, so he gave his little seeker a ticket to his worst nightmare.

Summary
Having nowhere else to turn to, Starscream joined the Decepticons at the beginning of the Great War. It didn't seem like a bad idea then, even with rumors that the new Decepticon leader was a frivolous playmech who basked in the admiring attention from most of the faction. Starscream would find a new start, work his way up the ranks, shoot a couple of Autobots...
And somehow deal with Megatron's undivided and relentless efforts in initiating a courtship.
Inappropriate doesn't begin to describe the bad timing of it all in the middle of war. Unfortunately, Megatron seems to have missed the memo.
