Itachi's steps slow just a fraction, enough that you notice. "What am I the next minute?"
You glance at him, startled by the question. There's no teasing in his tone, no hint of sarcasm. It's a genuine question, and it leaves you scrambling for an answer.
"I… I'm not sure yet," you admit, your voice quieter than before.
He stops walking, and you do too, suddenly hyperaware of the space between you. When he speaks again, his voice is softer than you’ve ever heard it. "Tell me when you figure it out."
