Yet at the very same time ten years is not enough time. Castiel has seen it all the rich the glamour. The soft underbelly of the city. The high life and all that it includes. Yet nothing in this life could have prepared Castiel for the whirlwind that is Dean Winchester. He loved that man good and hard.
Now it’s been ten years since Dean had walked away from him. Ten years since he distorted the perfect world they had created.
Maybe it’s time to write all about it.

Or Castiel meets Dean Winchester on a random sunny day in New York. It was June 1920s Castiel was nineteen. Everything felt so new . It was a the timing for this one conversation would lead Castiel into a whole hurricane of emotions. -

His eyes sting. At the very least, Buck contains the sound of it in his voice. “Eddie, I don’t know if you’ve noticed,” he replies, “but I already am.”
Eddie self-implodes. Christopher, seeking refuge, flees to Buck—whose priorities amount to, in varying order: take in the kid, get Eddie to talk to him, and keep the three of them afloat in the process. (Oh, and Tommy’s there too. He thinks.)

“I... have a surprise for you.” Shane says. He can't wait for Ilya to see it.
“Surprise? What surprise? You have an Olympic game to attend, no time for surprises!” Ilya replies, almost worried.
“Well, it wouldn’t be a surprise if I told you what it is! I just wanted to make sure that you’d watch the game,” Shane explains shyly. As if there is even the slightest possibility that Ilya won’t watch the whole game from start to finish and then the interviews and then all the commentary on it.
“Silly husband. Of course I will watch it all. Always."
Shane smiles at the empty room, then picks up the phone from the desk. “я тебя люблю.”
“I love you too, babe. Now go fuck up Sweden!”
OR: Shane plays for Canada in the Beijing Olympics, Ilya is back home in Ottawa, and they surprise each other.

When he dies, and is buried however many states away from Eddie, if they crack him open and slice his heart up, Buck wonders if they’ll find glinting, glittering gold chunks of fossilized Diaz that he’s kept as close to the core of him as possible. Wonders if they’ll know he lived off of them until he couldn't anymore. If they’ll study that organ and put it in museums, present it to a room full of academics dead set on disproving the physical effects of this love he has, if they'll be disappointed when they can't. He feels a gust of air leave Eddie’s lips and Buck thinks, I’m home. I’m home here, is this home to you? Not Texas, not here, but me, here with me. Does it feel that way to you?
or, eddie actually goes to texas and suddenly, five years have passed.
