After Grace hears of a new ship and finds out theres a living human onboard, he's hit with a wave of strong and occasionally conflicted emotions. Those emotions are only strengthened once he finds out that human---Simon---seems just as traumatized, if not more, than Grace himself was
And after Simon wakes up onboard an unknown spaceship with an alien and the kindest person he's ever met, he has to learn to regain his footing in a much kinder world than he's used to, alongside growing to understand the other human---Grace.
Now they've got to figure out just how to handle and help eachother, even as their own feelings start bubbling up

Alternate take on the post-fishing scene/CH20, where Rocky saves Grace and Grace returns the gesture by saving Rocky and exposing himself to superheated ammonia.
Blazing hot ammonia flooded the airlock and dormitory. I slammed the airlock door behind me and spun the lock. Hissing erupted on the other side, loud and violent, but I couldn’t see anything anymore. Can’t even breathe.
The ammonia had hit me straight on. No cover. No shielding. Certainly no glasses on my face to protect my eyes even a little. Just superheated ammonia directly to the face like the universe personally decided I’d gone too long since I’d last suffered five minutes ago.
I’m screaming, I thought. Or maybe gurgling. Hard to tell when my throat felt like it’s being flayed open from the inside. I hit the floor hard, writhing as fire tore through my lungs and airways. Every breath felt like inhaling knives.

Summary
A loud, piercing sound ripped through the air without any warning. It echoed chaotically, bouncing and magnifying off the aluminum walls, screeching like a fire alarm, an airhorn, and an ambulance siren trying to harmonize all at once.
Grace leapt a foot in the air, dropping what he was holding with a loud clatter as he instinctively slapped his hands over his ears. Just as quickly as the noise started, it stopped, and Grace's ears rang slightly as he hesitantly lowered his hands.
“What the heck was that???”
