Summary
When the Howling Commandos are awakened in 2015, they learn of a future that has honest-to-goodness aliens and actual flying ships. They learn Howard Stark had a kid, that he and Agent Carter founded an organization that got infiltrated by Hydra, a group they thought they wiped out in WWII, and they learn of Howard's kid being a part of a group of individuals that protect Earth from extraterrestrial and domestic threats. This future is terrifying and confusing and full of mistrust in all directions.
Oh, and Captain Rogers is alive and well. So is Sergeant Barnes, but he's missing. In hiding, in all actuality. Hydra and the Russians nabbed him and turned him into a human weapon. Their Captain is different, distant and a damn good actor. He's also hurting. The Howlies know how to fix that at least: Find Barnes.
He's one of them and they are not leaving him behind again.

Steve tells him he's fine. No one is after him, but Bucky can't help but feel imaginary crosshairs on him or Steve. He tries to appear fine and happy but it's hard. He sees enemies everywhere. Even amongst Steve's new team. They don't trust him and he doesn't trust them. Bucky needs to leave. New York is no longer home. Too many windows and floors for him to defend against. He can't handle it anymore. He leaves a letter to Steve and takes off to find some place safe where he can relax. He doesn't expect to be followed.

Bucky is a highly successful cooking and lifestyle blogger, the gay New England Pioneer Woman if you will. He writes all about life in his Connecticut home with his D.H. (darling husband). Only problem? It’s all complete fiction. He actually lives in a shitty Brooklyn apartment, is single as hell, and has visited Connecticut exactly one time at the age of eight.
When his agent Sam informs him that he's been offered an exclusive sponsorship deal with Stark Media and a three book contract to go with it, Bucky's forced to fess up to Sam, who's predictably...displeased. But Sam's also convinced the deal is too good to miss—even if they have to put on a little bit of a show in order to get it.
So Tony and Pepper descend on Bucky and Sam's fake home for Christmas with a devastatingly handsome War Hero in tow, and their already complicated plan quickly gets even more complicated as Bucky finds himself falling head over heels for Steve. Can he keep it together just for the holidays? Did he ever have it together in the first place?
