Ted recognized the front of the shop on his way back that afternoon, Henry strapped to his chest instead of in his stroller, awake, happily observing everything around him. The day had exhausted him, as if every task had taken double the energy today than it would have taken any other day. He hesitated, moving out of the line of people walking, looking up at the sign above the door. The woman he’d seen, the one who nearly ran into him, she had come out of this shop, hadn’t she?
He didn’t know what he expected, but seeing a sign that said The Earl Greyhound was not it.

She sucks on her teeth as he lifts the hem of his shirt up, wiping his forehead with it and putting a good bit of his stomach on display for what feels like just her.
