Summary
Another near-death experience, this time involving the Eclipse Cannon, has led Robotnik to realise previously deeply buried feelings towards his agent, presenting Stone with an emotional rollercoaster. Sailing across the Atlantic Ocean seems like a perfect opportunity to explore new aspects of their relationship.

Summary
Robotnik didn't believe the vermin that dared to put a bullet in his heart was actually competent. More like Stone had to focus on too many things at once (for example an inapt teammate that deserved to be in his place) and a blind pig found a truffle this one time.
It had no rights to Stone's heart.
The doctor did not want to remember what animalistic sounds had left his larynx on the airport full of military officers when he ran to one of the coffins wrapped in black stretch film, unloaded from a cargo jet.
Robotnik grieves and reminisces.

After the world nearly ended, Stone developed a habit of smoking whenever he missed Robotnik. Seven months later, even after Robotnik had returned to him alive and heavily wounded, it still wasn't enough to stop Stone’s smoking habit. Eventually, Robotnik finds out.

Summary
“Can you put that out on me?”
The quiet ambiance swelling between them feels eternal, punctuated by the distant scuttling of insects, an excruciating pulse at the back of Stone’s throat. It’s like a fine black haze settling low in both of their lungs. Dizzying, suffocating.
Stone comes back to himself.
“I’m sorry sir, I don’t know what came over me.” He apologizes with a forced chuckle, scratching the back of his neck. Robotnik’s eyes boring into him, cold and expressionless, feel like needles prickling against every square inch of his skin. He licks his dry lips, and finds that they taste of coagulated blood and diluted sulfur - leaving a nicotine buzz behind his eyes. “I shouldn’t have asked for something like that, I’m so-“
“No.” Robotnik raises a hand, silencing him. “Come here.”

Summary
Robotnik stared at the Agent, mind racing, hypotheses opening out in a dozen different tabs of the browser in his mind, each trying to home in on why he had been sent this agent.
Ah. It had finally happened.
The government was trying to kill him. For realsies this time.

After failing his latest psych evaluation, Agent Stone finds himself pulled from almost a decade in the international field and placed on domestic babysitting duty for an eccentric scientist who makes it very clear that Stone could either walk away right now or else quit in a bodybag. Well, Stone has never been a quitter and what begins as a war of attrition over some HR forms slowly morphs into a functional(?) working relationship and the beginnings of a deeply unprofessional crush on his boss. That is, right up until the government comes up with a plan B to get rid of them both.
